Move from ThoughtSpot

Export your ThoughtSpot work with unshackle, then use a coding agent and Querio CLI to rebuild and check it in Querio.

Use a ThoughtSpot liveboard, saved answers and model definitions to build the equivalent analysis in Querio.

unshackle's exporter for this tool has early support. Review the migration report before relying on its output.

Already exported? Go straight to Move exported work to Querio.

1. Prepare access

Install unshackle and run the commands below from your analytics Git repository.

  • THOUGHTSPOT_URL, THOUGHTSPOT_USERNAME and either THOUGHTSPOT_PASSWORD or THOUGHTSPOT_SECRET_KEY.
  • The service user must see the selected objects and models. THOUGHTSPOT_ORG_ID selects an org on multi-org clusters.
  • Check your ThoughtSpot agreement permits exporting your definitions through the REST API.

2. Export one report

unshackle check thoughtspot --prompt
unshackle inventory thoughtspot
unshackle migrate thoughtspot --only OBJECT_GUID
unshackle todo

Replace OBJECT_GUID with the selected item's ID from inventory. The credential prompt saves values to a local, git-ignored .env; keep those values out of agent prompts.

Read migration/report.md for missing dependencies, extraction errors and unfinished translations before continuing.

Using exported files instead

Use Export TML on the selected liveboard, answer or model. Include associated objects so the export contains its models and tables:

unshackle init
unshackle import thoughtspot "Sales Overview.zip" more-tml/
unshackle build thoughtspot
unshackle todo

Accepts TML files, folders or ZIPs. TML exports lack ThoughtSpot-generated SQL, usage and sharing. Liveboard tiles can need SQL written from the model, rather than arriving with a runnable query.

3. Review what needs adapting

  • Advanced formulas such as group_aggregate, moving calculations and ranks need SQL or window functions.
  • Replace filter values baked into exported tile SQL with the controls your readers need.
  • Check output column mapping, unsupported charts and security based on ts_groups or ts_username.

Download liveboard results as CSV or use the original generated SQL. Pin relative filters and compare a saved answer under the same grouping and access identity.

4. Rebuild and check it in Querio

Open the repository in Claude Code, Codex or your preferred coding agent. Give it this brief:

Read https://docs.querio.ai/llms/guides/move-bi-workflow/already-unshackled.md.
Use this repository's ThoughtSpot export to rebuild REPORT_NAME in Querio.
Pay attention to ThoughtSpot formula grain, liveboard filters, SQL
column mappings and group-based access rules.
Ask me for the target workspace, datasource and a trusted source result.

Replace REPORT_NAME with the report you chose. Follow Move exported work to Querio for CLI authentication, the full agent task, verification and sharing. Check the rebuilt Querio output against your source result before using it as a replacement.

For export settings and the full list of translation gaps, see unshackle's ThoughtSpot guide.
