Move from Metabase

Bring your Metabase questions, models and dashboard logic into Querio, including the SQL behind query-builder questions.

1. Prepare access

Install unshackle and run the commands below from your analytics Git repository.

• METABASE_URL and METABASE_API_KEY, created under Admin > Settings > Authentication > API keys.
• API keys require Metabase v0.49 or later. An Administrators-group key can export permissions; other keys see only their group's content.
• This source uses the API. unshackle does not support a Metabase file import.

2. Export one report

unshackle check metabase --prompt
unshackle inventory metabase
unshackle migrate metabase --only dashboard:DASHBOARD_ID
unshackle todo

Replace DASHBOARD_ID with the selected item's ID from inventory. The credential prompt saves values to a local, git-ignored .env; keep those values out of agent prompts.

Read migration/report.md for missing dependencies, extraction errors and unfinished translations before continuing.

3. Review what needs adapting

• Custom-expression metrics and cumulative calculations can need simpler measures or SQL.
• Metabase models may need warehouse views. Review filters unshackle could not place in the compiled SQL.
• Check timezone/grouping behavior, relative-date defaults and paid-plan row/column security. Pivot tables and some chart types need adaptation.

Download a question's or dashboard tile's results with the agreed filters. Save the CSV and record display-name column headers so the agent can map them to query outputs.

4. Rebuild and check it in Querio

Open the repository in Claude Code, Codex or your preferred coding agent. Give it this brief:
