Move from Amazon QuickSight

Export your Amazon QuickSight work with unshackle, then use a coding agent and Querio CLI to rebuild and check it in Querio.

Use your QuickSight dataset and dashboard definitions to rebuild the analysis, calculations and controls in Querio.

Already exported? Go straight to Move exported work to Querio.

1. Prepare access

Install unshackle and run the commands below from your analytics Git repository.

  • AWS credentials through your normal profile, SSO or role, plus QUICKSIGHT_REGION and QUICKSIGHT_ACCOUNT_ID for the source assets.
  • Permission to list and describe the selected assets and start an asset-bundle export. The exporting identity must also have access to those assets.
  • Exported row/column security and groups depend on QuickSight Enterprise features. Set QUICKSIGHT_IDENTITY_REGION if identities live in a different region.

2. Export one report

unshackle check quicksight --prompt
unshackle inventory quicksight
unshackle migrate quicksight --only dashboard:DASHBOARD_ID
unshackle todo

Replace DASHBOARD_ID with the selected item's ID from inventory. The credential prompt saves values to a local, git-ignored .env; keep those values out of agent prompts.

Read migration/report.md for missing dependencies, extraction errors and unfinished translations before continuing.

Using exported files instead

If you already have a QUICKSIGHT_JSON asset bundle, import it directly. Export it with dependencies and permissions to preserve that material:

unshackle init
unshackle import quicksight "Sales.qs"
unshackle build quicksight
unshackle todo

The bundle can omit dependent datasets or permissions unless they were requested at export. User/group listings are not included. QuickSight export details cover bundle creation.

3. Review what needs adapting

  • Level-aware calculations and table calculations such as running totals can need SQL or Python equivalents.
  • Review relative dates, aggregate filters, multi-value parameters and dialect-specific date functions.
  • File/SaaS datasets and custom SQL need an accessible data source in Querio. Check identity mappings for row security.

Export a table visual's data as CSV with fixed filter values. QuickSight has no general API for every visual's result rows. Include a calculated metric and a filtered case in the comparison.

4. Rebuild and check it in Querio

Open the repository in Claude Code, Codex or your preferred coding agent. Give it this brief:

Read https://docs.querio.ai/llms/guides/move-bi-workflow/already-unshackled.md.
Use this repository's Amazon QuickSight export to rebuild REPORT_NAME in Querio.
Pay attention to QuickSight level-aware calculations, dataset joins,
parameter defaults and row-level security.
Ask me for the target workspace, datasource and a trusted source result.

Replace REPORT_NAME with the report you chose. Follow Move exported work to Querio for CLI authentication, the full agent task, verification and sharing. Check the rebuilt Querio output against your source result before using it as a replacement.

For export settings and the full list of translation gaps, see unshackle's Amazon QuickSight guide.
