Move from Looker
Export your Looker work with unshackle, then use a coding agent and Querio CLI to rebuild and check it in Querio.
Carry your LookML definitions and a working dashboard into Querio without starting its metrics and joins from scratch.
Already exported? Go straight to Move exported work to Querio.
1. Prepare access
Install unshackle and run the commands below from your analytics Git repository.
LOOKER_BASE_URL,LOOKER_CLIENT_IDandLOOKER_CLIENT_SECRET. API3 keys are managed under Admin > Users > Edit Keys.- Clone the production LookML project and set
LOOKER_LOOKML_DIRto its local path. This supplies definitions the API alone can miss, including derived-table SQL and access grants. - The API user needs access to the selected dashboard, its folders and LookML. Limited visibility produces a partial export.
2. Export one report
unshackle check looker --prompt
unshackle inventory looker
unshackle migrate looker --only dashboard:DASHBOARD_ID
unshackle todoReplace DASHBOARD_ID with the selected item's ID from inventory. The credential prompt saves values to a local, git-ignored .env; keep those values out of agent prompts.
Read migration/report.md for missing dependencies, extraction errors and unfinished translations before continuing.
Using exported files instead
If you already have the LookML repository, import its checkout or ZIP:
unshackle init
unshackle import looker path/to/lookml-checkout
unshackle build looker
unshackle todoLookML-defined dashboards can be rebuilt from these files. User-created dashboards, saved Looks, usage and Looker-generated query SQL require the API; a LookML checkout alone does not include them.
3. Review what needs adapting
- Liquid templates, table calculations and custom dashboard fields need review.
- Symmetric aggregates and one-to-many joins can change totals. Preserve the original aggregation grain.
- Recreate persistent derived tables as warehouse views or dbt models. Review access filters and user-attribute mappings separately.
Use the dashboard's source SQL or export its results as CSV. Pin relative dates and record the API user's access filters. Include a case with joins that could duplicate measures.
4. Rebuild and check it in Querio
Open the repository in Claude Code, Codex or your preferred coding agent. Give it this brief:
Read https://docs.querio.ai/llms/guides/move-bi-workflow/already-unshackled.md.
Use this repository's Looker export to rebuild REPORT_NAME in Querio.
Pay attention to LookML joins, symmetric aggregates, Liquid, derived
tables and access filters.
Ask me for the target workspace, datasource and a trusted source result.Replace REPORT_NAME with the report you chose. Follow Move exported work to Querio for CLI authentication, the full agent task, verification and sharing. Check the rebuilt Querio output against your source result before using it as a replacement.
For export settings and the full list of translation gaps, see unshackle's Looker guide.
