Workspaces

What a workspace contains, where to manage its settings, and how its limits and billing work.

Your workspace holds your team's Explores, datasources, context, users and settings. Its plan and usage belong to the workspace too. Most teams can work in one workspace; use Settings to manage it.

Membership gets someone into the workspace. What they can do there still depends on their permissions, and a database query also needs datasource permission and exactly one authorized credential. See Users, roles and groups for the access rules.

Settings lookup

Open workspace Settings, then choose the area you need. Actions are available according to your permissions.

AreaUse it for
GeneralWorkspace name and logo, defaults for new Explores, cached previews and the deletion request.
Statuses and tagsLabels for organizing saved work. An Explore can have one status and multiple tags.
Usage and billingPlan, usage, subscription information and available payment actions.
Users, Roles, GroupsMembership, permissions and credential assignments. See Users, roles and groups.
Single sign-onSign-in configuration, domain and mode. See Single sign-on setup.
DatasourcesConnections and credentials. See Datasources and credentials.
Git, SlackWorkspace integrations. See Use Git and CI sync for the GitHub connection and separate CI setup.
API keysKeys for programmatic access. See API reference.
PreferencesYour Explore view preference and browser theme; these do not change team defaults.

Defaults and general settings

SettingBehavior
Workspace nameThe General field trims whitespace, rejects a blank name and allows up to 64 characters.
Workspace logoPNG or JPEG, up to 4 MiB. The interface recommends at least 400 by 400 pixels but does not enforce that dimension.
Default modelStarts at System default. A valid model selected for an individual Explore can override it. Available models depend on the deployment.
Default explore visibilityStarts at Private. You can choose Workspace can view or Workspace can edit for new work. Changing the default does not change sharing on existing Explores.
Cached previewsOn by default. The switch saves your choice, but switching it off does not currently prevent stored outputs from appearing when an Explore opens. Rerun and check execution and data freshness when you need a current result.

Explore visibility controls sharing, not database access. See Explores for how the default applies when work is created, duplicated or continued.

Developer access on Users controls whether someone sees Embedded in the sidebar. It does not grant API or datasource access. Developer access and Single sign-on setup cover those separate controls.

Usage and billing

Open Settings > Usage and billing to see this workspace's plan, usage and, when present, subscription status, renewal or trial dates, cancellation and payment issues. Pricing has current offers and terms.

The usage card shows rows configured for the plan. AI generations, user prompts and Explores use recorded counters; users and datasources show current resource counts. Unlimited refers to that row's quota, not permission to use a feature or query its data. A missing row does not establish an entitlement. If datasource metadata cannot be read, its displayed count can be zero even when connections exist.

Period counters follow the subscription's billing period, which may differ from a calendar month. Open billing portal appears only when the workspace has a Stripe customer and your account can manage billing. The portal opens in Stripe and returns to Usage and billing. Checkout and billing changes have their own permission checks.

Creation and recovery limits

Web signup asks you to verify your email and complete a short setup form, then opens My first notebook with Sample data attached and Getting started visible. If you are joining an existing team, use its invitation with the invited email address. Self-service creation can be refused when you already belong to a workspace or your email domain already has a team account. Ask that team's administrator for an invitation, or contact support if you need another workspace.

CLI/API provisioning is a separate path. Creation accepts a trimmed name of 1 to 120 characters, although the General rename field is limited to 64. If provisioning is incomplete, keep the returned workspace ID and retry with the same request ID and name; changing the name or file mode for that request can be rejected. Provisioning does not select the new workspace in your local CLI. See CLI reference for the commands. Do not assume web signup's sample data or billing behavior applies to CLI/API provisioning.

If you belong to several workspaces, the account menu lets you switch between them. Switching changes where you work; it does not copy an Explore or change your memberships. When switching from an Explore, the app opens the destination workspace rather than carrying that Explore's ID across.

Delete workspace under General records a deletion request. A success message means support was notified, not that data has been removed. Follow up with support to confirm the request and its outcome.
